Create a unique piece of textural wall art by mingling self-made painted papers of varying surfaces/thicknesses, patterned papers, solids, and supporting embellishments. Your papers will then be torn to create raw edges and attached to backing before being mounted on a provided canvas.
Students need to bring a glue stick and can bring favorite small embellishments/beads (optional)

Nancy Curry is a mixed media artist, magazine project designer, Certified Ranger Educator, and author of Texture Effects for Rubber Stamping. A nationally known rubber stamp artist, Nancy has taught stamping, altered art, and mixed media workshops in stores, conventions, cruises, and art retreats in the U.S. Her work has been published in many of the top craft magazines, including Somerset Studio, Stamping Arts and Crafts, as well as cover art and features in Rubber Stamper, Expression, Vamp Stamp News,Belle Armoire and several Design Originals books.
Nancy's work often varies by using different applications of media resulting in pieces containing both visual and tactile textures that are rich in composition. Nancy Curry is a master at creating sophisticated and beautiful texture effects.

This class takes beginning resist techniques to a new level and can be easily applied in altered art, scrapbooking, card-making, and other paper arts projects. Techniques demoed and explored include the use of palette stamps, templates, foam palettes, and patterning by mixing ink types, splattering, masking grids and freeform Bargello design.
Students do not need to have taken the basic resist class in January. This class stands alone.
Students will need to bring 3-5 dye ink pads (darker colors provide more contrast), a Metallic pad or two, several themed stamps in varying sizes, cutting mat/knife or small paper cutter and basic stamping supplies.
Saturday, January 5 @ 10:30-1:30
This technique-based class will focus on helping your brayer live a more productive life. A variety of papers, mediums, and colorant combinations will mingle to provide interesting and varied surface design. Finish with stamping or use created designs as is in cardmaking, altered art, ATCs, journaling, scrapbooking, or as the basis for unique wall art.
Student Supplies: Students will need to bring a 4” rubber brayer, scissors, Black StazOn pad, and a glue stick. Optional: favorite stamps
Saturday, February 23 10:30 am-1:30 pm
Studio cloth is the cadillac of floor cloth options available. Use this class as a jump start into larger floor cloth projects, scrapbook accent additions, or find a new interest in creating snippets of textural fiber art. Students will play with mixed media paint and ground application, fiber stitchery, and other embellishments to create a framed work of art (mat and frame included).
Students need to bring:
Black extra fine and fine permanent markers (Sharpie, Pitt or Micron), 1/2" flat and liner paintbrush

Learn 5-6 mixed media formulas and variations (as time permits) while working in the fun ATC size format. All of these techniques are transferable to any paper arts project and feature new uses for media and household items already in your stash as well as an introduction to new multi-use ones that lend themselves to layered design.
Students should bring: favorite small and background stamps, black permanent ink pad, heat tool (optional)
